Our Staff

The staff of the Gateway Chapter of the Paralyzed Veterans of America is a highly dedicated and motivated group of individuals who serve veterans with spinal cord injury or disease both locally and throughout the United States. Our full-time Executive Director, Susan Lyle, oversees the administrative functions of the chapter office as well as all programs and activities. Ms. Lyle is assisted by a part-time Administrative Assistant, Tammie Winkler.

In addition to our 1 1/2 paid staff members named above, we employ a part-time driver to handle the transportation needs of our members 4 times per week. We also have a volunteer driver that runs the Chapter van on Wednesdays. In addition, there are two spinal-cord-injured volunteer board members who spend more than their fair share of time on Chapter business. Our Treasurer, Dennis Durrwachter, who is employed full-time as an engineer with the Boeing Corporation, stops by the office each week to sign checks and review the finances.

Assisted by his aides, our President Stanley Brown has logged in over 1000 volunteer hours for the Chapter last year and is also employed part-time as an adjunct professor at a local university!
